Bed Stuy in the News This Week

What the heck is chicken liver cannoli? I don’t know, and I don’t think I want to know. But there’s a new restaurant called Willow — from the folks behind The Pines in Gowanus — opening next week at Franklin and Fulton. And they’re serving chicken liver cannoli, along with other seasonal stuff. Gothamist has the full preview of the space and dishes.

The C train: “It’s like Cinderella without the glass slipper.” That’s the nice way to put it, I’ll just come out and say that this train completely sucks. Transportation Nation has a great show on the many woes of the C train rider.

Guess I’m not the only one who thinks all the new buildings in Bed Stuy are ugly. A group is starting to catalog local construction changes in hopes that developers will be more thoughtful in their designs. Sadly, if it’s not in a historic district, I’d say the chance of ugliness is at about 95 percent here. See the full story at DNAinfo.

Speaking of new construction, a new building across from Saratoga Park is almost finished with construction. See a photo of the final result at Brownstoner.

Brownstoner also profiled 135-137 Jefferson Avenue, a former garage turned church, between Bedford and Nostrand Avenues. Read about its history here.

A good outcome to a horrible situation: the man responsible for a number of Bed Stuy subway slashing has been arrested. Details at PIX 11.
