Over the past week the city finished fully paving Putnam (for ahwhile, the parking areas weren’t newly paved but the main street was — making it very difficult to bike), and paved Madison Street as well. The paving stretches on both streets from around Throop to Classon. This may not seem like a huge deal, but for anyone who bikes or drives regularly down those blocks — it is. They were both ridden with potholes, bumpy, unsafe, and in general disarray. Biking down these blocks now feels downright heavenly. Thanks, city!
Many more streets around Bed Stuy need this kind of TLC. And we may see more of it (at least in the western end of the nabe), due to the major repaving and Select Bus Service implementation along Nostrand Avenue. Before SBS came to Nostrand, that thoroughfare was in terrible shape as well.
