Mexican Restaurant is Coming for Corner of Marcus Garvey Boulevard and Halsey

A Mexican restaurant called Tepache is opening on the northwest corner of Marcus Garvey Boulevard and Halsey Street. (This isn’t the only new arrival to MGB… this boutique is opening nearby in early May.) The owners of Villa Pancho Taqueria, a restaurant at Bedford Avenue and Greene, are expanding here. The owner told me that it’ll be a little different than Villa Pancho, which serves nachos, quesadillas, salads, tacos, burritos and fajitas. This new location is a deep space that also includes a backyard.

Tepache should open in a few weeks. The owner is also looking to hire waiters who live in the neighborhood. If you’re interested in applying, email peyotenyc@gmail.com.

  1. Wow. Two new Mexican joints a block away from each other on Halsey! Let the balle begin. I for one am super excited at the prospect of having a Mexican food option(s) in this part of Bedford-Stuyvesant. It really feels like new restaurants and starting to come on line quickly. Let’s see what happens with the Jeffrey’s spot on Macon Street and the old Marcus Vineyard spot.
