This Monday, Doctor’s Cave Cafe officially opened at 856 Marcy Avenue, on the corner of Putnam and across from the Boys and Girls High School. I caught up with the owner last month — he is the son of the building owner, who has previously operated a cafe in that space. I chatted with him and his mom yesterday about the opening and took some (admittedly lousy) cell phone photos. It’s a truly beautiful, unique space with an open, big kitchen. Apparently it operated 50 years ago as a luncheonette. Today, Doctor’s Cave is serving coffee and tea (hot and iced), sandwiches, salads, smoothies and pastries. I got a mango lemonade which was really good, but haven’t tried the food yet.
There’s something really special about this place, so check ’em out and give them your business! Right now they are open Monday through Friday, 8 am to 8 pm. They may open on Saturdays in the future, but not Sundays. Follow them on Instagram: @doctorscavecafe.
