Hi Bed Stuy, very sorry for my radio silence this summer. Travels and work have kept me away from the blog, but I hope it’ll calm down soon as we move into fall. Anyway, as I noted this spring, there is now a boutique specializing in art, jewelry, home wares, handmade clothing and accessories open at 410 Marcus Garvey Boulevard, off Halsey Street, called Locale. The owners got in touch to let me know they are now hosting daily yoga classes here, which is something you can’t find much around the neighborhood. The studio, according to Locale owner Donald Edwards, promotes “holistic health through private and small group classes that offer more adjustments, attention to detail, and specialized instruction.” It’s also the only studio in Bed Stuy with its own aerial hammocks — just check out the photos!
There are lots of classes to choose from, including Aerial Yoga Basics, Candlelight Vinyasa Wine – Down (yoga + a complimentary glass of wine! YES!), Vinyasa Flow, Children’s Yoga and Senior’s Yoga. There is also a “Fitness Fight Club,” which focuses on more general fitness. If it looks interesting, then check out the studio schedule for details on classes.
