There Goes the Neighborhood, WNYC, podcast, bed-stuy

WNYC Studios and The Nation have launched a new podcast called There Goes the Neighborhood, an eight-part weekly series designed as “an in-depth look at the gentrification of Brooklyn, from the developers making deals to the mayor’s plan for affordable housing, to the longtime residents trying to preserve their neighborhoods and the integral role that race plays in the process.” You can check out a sneak preview right here, and the first episode will be released this Wednesday.

To celebrate the launch, WNYC is holding a party this Wednesday, March 9th from 6 to 8pm at Bed-Stuy’s Restoration Corporation. It’ll be hosted by comedian Aparna Nancherla and will include an audio clip from the podcast, a spoken word performance by Kai Davis, a video clip from the new video series The Movement and a Q&A moderated by Kai Wright, the editor of The Nation who will also host of the podcast. Food and drink will be catered by Brooklyn’s Egg restaurant. More event details here. If you’d like to attend, RSVP is mandatory to dcotrone@nypublicradio.org.
