Voting has kicked off for our district’s participatory budgeting — a chance for community members to directly decide how to spend a $1 million chunk of the public budget. District 36’s ballot includes upgrades to the Marcy Branch of the Brooklyn Public Library, security cameras to Albany Houses and the Marcy Houses senior buildings, a dog run at Von King Park, sidewalk repairs, new smartboards for five of the district schools and more. Voters can pick as many as five project proposals, then projects with the most votes will receive funding. So get out there and vote! You just must be at least 14 years old and live within the district.
