One of my favorite spots in the neighborhood — Kafe Louverture — has just expanded its food offerings. The tiny space, right off Marcus Garvey at 392 Halsey Street, closed for construction in late April. Now it’s open with lunch and dinner options, including Hatian jerk chicken and black rice (pictured above, on the right) as well as coconut curry shrimp and rice (pictured on the left). If the dinner is as delicious as the Haitian patties they offer… that’s good news. Kafe Louverture also serves coffee, tea, pastries and breakfast offerings.
The spot is closed Mondays but usually open 8am to 7pm, with hours until 9pm on Friday night, then between 11am and 6pm on Sundays. It first opened last fall.
