If you’re looking for a place for your kids this summer, there’s an option to keep them in the neighborhood. Next month, Camp Bed-Stuy is kicking off its third year. Here are details:
At Camp Bed-Stuy children ages 4 through 14 enjoy the wonders of creative and performing arts, culture, sports, and nature in Bedford Stuyvesant and neighboring communities. While our camp is based in Bedford Stuyvesant we spend more than half our summer traveling and exploring the wonders of New York City and beyond. Our camps have traveled as far as Washington, DC in one day; each year our campers visit LEGOLAND in Westchester County, New Rock City in New Rochelle.
From traditional day camp activities such as horseback riding, swimming, and arts and crafts to fencing and skateboarding your children will get the opportunity to gain self-confidence and build lasting relationships in a nurturing environment.
At Camp Bed-Stuy, we focus more on growth and learning than just on doing activities. We teach social intelligence, self-control, gratitude, grit, curiosity, optimism and zest. Being a part of a camp group, with lots of new faces, builds social intelligence, giving campers greater ability to find solutions in working with others. Trying new activities grows curiosity, teaching kids how to ask questions and helping them be even more eager to explore new things.
The camp is holding four two-week sessions this summer, from July 5–15, July 18–29, August 1-12 and August 15-26. Or there’s an extended sessions that runs between August 29-September 2. To register online, go here. The camp offers a reduced rate if you register before June 7th. There are also scholarship opportunities available.
