This Saturday be sure to stop by the Macon Library, at 361 Lewis Avenue. The Friend’s Group, which is now fundraising for the library, is hosting a Juneteenth Sidewalk Party. Come for food, music and vendors, and be sure to say hello to the Friend’s Group and learn about our fundraising goals. We will be hosting a raffle and all the proceeds will go toward the library’s wish list of improvements. Raffle items include gift certificates to Hart’s, a Mediterranean restaurant at 506 Franklin Avenue, Sumner Cafe, the coffee and sandwich spot at 144 Decatur Street, and Life Wellness, which offers massages and acupuncture at 376 Tompkins. OMHH Beauty Oasis has set up a beauty box to raffle off, as well. And the big ticket item available will be one free week of summer camp at Camp Bed-Stuy.

The sidewalk will be full between noon and 4pm. Inside, the branch is also hosting a family day–more details on that here. If you can’t make it, but would still like to donate to the Friend’s Group of the library, there’s an online campaign still running.
